Writing quality blog comments

We are getting better and better at using our class blog as we practicing writing quality blog posts. We’ve also been co-constructing comments on our buddy class blog, with the help of our teacher and facilitator. Today we were empowered to write our own comments!

We did this lesson first to reinforce our understanding of positive (and specific!), thoughtful, helpful comments.

We had a look at some quality comments left on other students’ blogs, and identified the positive, thoughtful and helpful sections of these comments. We worked together in groups of two or three to complete this task.

Here is a slidedeck of some of our work from today.

Zoe Hobbs

This is my  Zoe Hobbs report. We did this to learn about Zoe Hobbs.

The learning went Good because,We  have information about Zoe Hobbs and we know how to write a good report about athletes. It was challenging to find the match in screenshotting and pasting, but was cool that we got good stuff about Zoe Hobbs.

If I was going to do this again I’d like to  write an actual article using our words.

Camp Reflection

I think we went to camp for fun, learning about taking care of your belongings and learning about the different places in NZ.

This is a screen shot of my camp reflection slide:

I think this camp reflection was a bit hard because it was planned so well. And it was  perfect really.

Do you have any helpful suggestions of how i can improve my writing you could give, if you do please wright that down in the comments.

Have you ever made anything like this?

Sloppy Tiger

WALT : we are learning to write books about different so I did sloppy tiger.

We spent a term writing books about different things. Kowhai class was making books and here is my group’s book Cassidy’s Sloppy tiger and his long lost sister book.

If you would like to make a book that would be amazing to hear about your book.

This is Alex,T gif piskel gift tutorial

Some of kowhai have been learning how to make our own gifs on piskel.

We discovered it on maori language week when we had to make a maui gif now some of us are using it for other things like images for our work and ticks for our work.

It was hard to learn all the tools but it was very fun we enjoyed learning how to use piskel. We hope you have fun using piskel.

Have you ever seen a pixelated gif?

Commonwealth Games Report

1.We have been learning about commonwealth athletes and wrote a report about them.

2. Because the commonwealth games were coming up soon and It’s a good thing to learn about because it was an active competition New zealand ws competing in.

We found the work medium difficulty and did not enjoy it that much we don’t know what we want to change next time we do it.

We would like people to comment on the interesting facts bit of writing and the history

The Commonwealth Games

WALT: Write reports on our chosen sport.

  • We did a sports report.
  • We learnt to do research about our sport so other people know facts and things about our sport.
  • We did research on our sport that we chose.

You can look at one of our reports here:

This shows our work on our commonwealth games reports.

Camp!

I learned on camp that there’s more animals in the world than you think e.g. spider monkeys. Here are some more of my reflections from camp. Leave a comment of what I could improve on my work and ask questions to find more info.

Exploring Blogs

Today we learned about the different parts of a blog. We also talked again about the reasons for blogging. We learned that not every blog post has to be a display of published work – sometimes we can share a draft or work in progress on our blog to get feedback from other people about what we might try next. Another reason to blog is to teach other people something that we know how to do really well.

We played a bingo game where we had to find different sorts of things in other people’s blogs. We had to search for different types of work, and also different parts of a blog like comments and tags. We learned a lot about the components of a blog and learned some new vocabulary too, like ‘tags’. This was helpful because next week we are going to start using this class blog a bit more independently from our teacher. It was also a great opportunity to practice our screenshotting skills.

Here are some of our Bingo boards, to give you an idea of what we did.
